Provincial Council

The Council Chamber is the place of assembly for the Provincial Council of Limburg. The members of this body are chosen directly by the electorate of the Province every four years. In the Netherlands, the number of members of a provincial governing body varies according to the total population of the province concerned. The provincial councils meet almost every month. Limburg's Council convenes every third Friday of the month in the Provincial Government Buildings. These meetings are open to the public.
Responsibility for the various policy areas has been delegated by the Provincial Council to a number of committees, whose task it is to prepare the agenda for the monthly assemblies.
